About Me

Greetings! My name is Justyn Shelby, and I am a CS student from Seattle, Washington. I am graduating from Oregon State University with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a minor in Business and Entrepreneurship. I was originally born in the Bay Area of California, but I was raised and currently reside up here in Seattle.

I have a love for creating things and solving problems, particularly with code! Creating programs, solving small problems, and making daily tasks easier were the three things that drew me into coding originally back when I was in middle school. To this day, most of my personal projects are created and maintained with these three things in mind. I learned mostly on my own, using my father and online resources as teachers, until I transferred to Oregon State University for my Bachelor's degree. Three of the most valuable things I learned from Oregon State were additional passions of mine in the world of computing: electrical engineering, lower-level programming, and networking.

Throughout my lifetime, I have created a number of projects, both personal and for school. One of the larger projects I've worked on is my capstone project, where my group of five Oregon State students has been creating an NES Emulator in C++. As sports are a huge passion of mine, one of my most used projects is a tool for assisting in managing fantasy football and baseball teams using Python. Building my own home server was a huge learning experience for me, as I learned a tremendous amount about hypervisors, Linux, and home networking.

One of the largest solo projects I have embarked on is creating a fantasy sports site that works with professional esports: a full-stack project that mimics core features of fantasy apps in Python and Flask using SQL as a database. Finally, I have worked on a few tools to assist with video game statistics, as well as a number of smaller projects for school in Python.
